Heads Up Display

This July 20th marks the 40th anniversary of the first manned moon landing.

When astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin landed the Lunar Apollo 11Excursion Module (LEM) "Eagle," they did it with technology that is primitive by today's standards.

In many ways, today's automobile is more technologically advanced than that 1969 lunar module. Today's cars are made of light-weight composite materials and are aerodynamically designed to enhance safety and increase gas mileage. Many of the new cars are using hybrid, E-85, plugin or diesel fuels for propulsion. And soon there will be an advanced exhaust system, developed by NASA, that will reduce car emissions by 30%.

Bluetooth, SYNCH and On-Star are just a few examples of the informational and Nasa Concept Carcommunications technologies that can be found in today’s cars. Some have Heads-Up Display which projects your speed, tachometer readings and odometer onto the windshield so you never have to look away from the road. Finally, your GPS can navigate you with pinpoint accuracy to wherever you might want to go... except maybe the moon.
