Dictionary

William ShakespeareWhen lacking, the English Language will adapt, expand and create. For instance, William Shakespeare has been credited with formulating thousands of new words to articulate his plays and sonnets.

Today is no different. If a word has widespread usage and staying power, it could be added to the dictionary. 2008 saw an addition of about 100 words in the Merriam-Webster dictionary, including: Twonk (a stupid or foolish person) and Crunk (let's get crazy and drunk). Some familiar words made their official debut this year, including: Mental Health Day (no description necessary) and Wing Nut (a description of people many of us see every day). So if you still think it’s neato to "get jiggy with it", you may want to lay low and await the voice of the new year.
